Addressing emerging risks in global renewable energy
2 April, 2025
By : GCube Insurance
On April 2nd and 3rd, GCube hosted its Renewable Energy Risk Seminar 2025 in Rome.
Our risk seminars are exclusive gatherings for industry professionals that bring together leaders in renewable energy insurance, risk management, finance, and development from across Europe and around the globe.
These events are designed to spark candid discussion on the major risks facing renewable energy portfolios today - and how stakeholders across the value chain can work together to build resilience into tomorrow’s clean energy infrastructure.
The agenda for our two-day seminar in Rome included:
- Market insights from GCube CEO Fraser McLachlan on how insurance must evolve to meet the scale and complexity of the energy transition
- A keynote from Masdar on managing risk in gigascale, multi-technology projects
- A buyer’s view from SSE Renewables on the insurance implications of Europe’s grid infrastructure overhaul
- Deep-dive analysis into global claims trends, offshore wind underwriting challenges, and the rising threat of unmodelled extreme weather
- A close-up look at price cannibalisation in European PPAs and its impact on renewables revenue streams
- A panel on the intersection of insurability, bankability and investment
And of course, we made the most of our stunning Roman surroundings. From drinks and canapés overlooking the city skyline to a guided afternoon golf-cart tour of the Hills of Ancient Rome, the event offered plenty of opportunities for informal networking and connection.
