Bringing together the leaders insuring North America’s green transition

In October, we returned to the Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach, California, for our annual Tokio Marine GX Risk Seminar – North America. Formerly known as the ‘Advisory Council’, this longstanding and well-respected event brings together leaders from across the green transition insurance market for two days of candid discussion and expert insight.

This year’s event fell almost exactly one year on from the official launch of Tokio Marine GX, offering an opportunity to reflect on progress from the past 12 months. Fraser McLachlan, Chairman, and Oliver Litterick, Head of Renewables, opened proceedings by doing just that, while offering a view on how experience gained in US renewables insurance translates into lessons learned for the wider green transition.

As ever, the event brought together an array of expert presenters across a range of topics, including:

  • Tax policy at a crossroads for clean energy
  • Managing repowering and lifetime extension risks
  • The rise of co-location and hybrid projects, looking back at the findings of our ‘Co-location, Co-location, Co-location‘ report
  • How new revenue models are affecting asset valuations, underwriting and BI claims
  • New nuclear and the role of the specialty insurance market
  • How AI is changing asset management, risk management and insurance

The seminar also saw the exclusive launch of our new report, ‘Expecting the Worst’ with a closing panel featuring the report contributors, asking what separates a resilient recovery strategy from a prolonged disruption.

Guests also enjoyed the Southern California setting, with a welcome reception and dinner, followed on day two by a choice of networking activities, and a closing dinner.

Thank you to all who joined us. We look forward to welcoming you again next year.
