Renewable Energy Risk Seminar - Europe 2026

This year, we gathered at Le Grand Hotel, Bordeaux for our annual Renewable Energy Risk Seminar - Europe, bringing together leaders from across the renewable energy insurance market for two days of candid discussion and expert insight.

Fraser McLachlan, Chairman, and Oliver Litterick, Head of Underwriting, opened proceedings with a focus on the evolving risk landscape in renewable energy, before we turned to the wider agenda.

The agenda brought together a strong lineup of industry voices across a range of pressing topics, including:

• Managing risk at utility-scale energy storage projects
• The rise of co-location and hybrid development strategies and how insurers adapt to enable the deployment of new technology combinations
• Lessons learned from project losses and the steps insureds can take to better protect wind and solar assets
• Making sense of insurance claims complexity and grey areas in policy wording
• Understanding the role of the insurer today as the green transition accelerates and grows in urgency

As is tradition, guests were also granted an early look at our latest insights report: Co-location, Co-location, Co-location

One theme ran throughout: the earlier stakeholders engage with insurers, the better the outcomes for all parties.

Guests also made the most of their surroundings, with an evening boat trip along the Garonne and a reception at Château Grattequina, followed by a guided tour of the historic city and a chance to sample the wines that gave Bordeaux its famous reputation.
